Douglas Wheeler Associates (DWA) was established in early 2003 to specialise in designing and implementing strategies that regenerate places. A range of specialist services is available. What is distinctive about DWA is the conscious move from a narrow ‘bricks and mortar’ approach to area regeneration, to one that is driven by a combination of economic development, urban design, social inclusion, community as well as physical objectives and a focus on new sectors like digital media and environmental business.
Doug Wheeler has over twenty-five years experience in area regeneration, economic and development planning in the United Kingdom and Ireland advising clients in the public, private and third sector. He is an expert advisor to the Heritage Lottery Fund on Townscape Heritage Initiatives.
DWA services, methodologies and consultation tools are tailored to the needs of particular client groups and locations. The emphasis is very much on working with clients and partners and using visioning, programme design and project development expertise to turn strategies into tangible improvements to places.
Doug also has extensive experience of best practice in place regeneration in the United Kingdom, Europe and North America and has undertaken and led a number of study visits.
